Bhanu athaiya did it in 1982 , The Great SATYAJIT RAY won lifetime achievement award in 1992. but no one after that could make it. So finally long awaited dream to win a " OSCARS" has come true for India. and amazingly 3 Indians won Oscars , credit to Rasul pattucky, A.R. Rahman and Gulzar. it was really a soothing experience when they received this honour but... but there are many of those, including me, who will agree to this pt. Its not a matter of NATIONAL PRIDE AS firstly the film was an American entry not Indian and shockingly, we were praying for this film to win in all categories its nominated , ya praying for above mentioned personalities was no harm bt answer 1 thing .... was it somehow possible for the entire world and Jury members to acknowledge their work had the movie been not an American entry to oscars or it was not directed by an american?
no one can doubt there capabilities to produce some exhilarating master pieces , then why they were not acknowledged and recognised before ,do they need any awards to let people know about them doesnt their work do the talking????
now i m writin this , my first ever blog, as i wanted to share a very shameful fact regarding indian entries to oscars so far,
MOTHER INDIA(1957), SALAAM BOMBAY(1988), LAGAAN(2001) .
all of these movies had shown the indian poverty only. however these movies were good but they all had poverty in the backgrounds of their stories. and slumdog was a no exception as so-called" INDIAN " entry to oscars.but slumdog managed to win as it had american name .
it was only the indian poverty that won 8 oscars not india and we are so proud and happy of this shameful reality... is it really a matter of pride that the entire likes movie as it shows so called reality of india, on one side we dream of economic superpower and on the other side we are happy with this image.....
C'MON GUYS Grow up!!!!!!!!!!!!
